Health Regular check-ups and vaccinations are essential. Plus, you should budget for health emergencies. Dog health insurance policies are available. Just ask your veterinarian. $250-$500*

* Costs will vary depending on you and your dog.

Other miscellaneous costs include toys, kennel boarding, dog walking, daycare services, and so on. As your puppy grows, you might find yourself spending money on dog magazines. You might even join a club dedicated to his breed. And make an allowance to replace a few chewed-up household items.

As you can see, the first-year costs of a puppy can quickly add up. So budget accordingly!
