Learning His Name

Before you can do anything else, you need a sure-fire way to get your puppy's attention.

You've given him a name - does he know what it is? Give him a food reward, when you call his name and he looks up. Reward him in other ways too - praise him and pat him when he responds to his name.

If you're having trouble, put a piece of food in front of his nose and move it around until you get his attention. Say his name again, and give it to him when you see that he's recognized his name.

Teaching your puppy his name won't take long, and it will lay the foundation for everything else you need to teach him.
