Getting Ready For A Puppy

The decision to acquire a puppy can be one of the most gratifying you'll ever make. Still, it's not one to take lightly. A puppy can bring joy, adventure and lots of love into your life. But, he also requires loads of attention and care. He's a growing responsibility.

Before making up your mind on a puppy, ask yourself: am I ready for a puppy? If, after you've thought it through, the answer is still "Yes," then congratulations! You'll be amazed at all the fun you're going to have.

But first, you'll want to make your home safe for a puppy. Plus, there are things you'll need to buy for the newest member of your family.

And, what about his first night? It will be eventful for both of you - not to mention a traumatic one for him. But, with a little care and patience, you'll both get through it and be ready to enjoy the fun times ahead.

Part of your responsibility to him consists of providing for him - things like food, vaccinations and toys. You'll also need to get him some form of identification, so you can find him should he ever get lost. And, be sure you have the financial resources to pay for the expenses of his first year, as well as the rest of his life.
