Star - 2002 Inductee

MISSISSAUGA, ONTARIO

STAR, a four-year-old Husky and German Shepherd mix, was attributed with saving the life of his owner Lynda Kishner of Mississauga, Ontario.

While walking Star on a cold winter morning near their home, Lynda slipped on a patch of ice and fell, shattering her leg in six places. Unable to move and barely conscious after passing out momentarily, Lynda called out to Star, who clamped his jaws on her jacket and dragged her to the side of the road.

A passing motorist spotted them and got help. Star did not leave Lynda’s side until an ambulance and Lynda’s husband arrived.

Lynda subsequently underwent hours of orthopedic surgery at Credit Valley Hospital, but credits Star with saving her from life-threatening hypothermia and shock.
