Dixie - 1983 Inductee

BRAMALEA, ONTARIO

DIXIE, a Beagle owned by Lloyed Viney, averted a possible tragedy when he located an explosive device hidden in a tree in a small park. Police credited Dixie with potentially saving the lives of many young children who play in the park and may have found the device.

At Purina, we honour the powerful connection between pets and people through the Purina Animal Hall of Fame. This program, the longest-running of its kind in Canada, recognizes animals whose acts of bravery and loyalty have changed lives.

These pets have gone beyond companionship—saving lives, offering comfort, and standing by their humans in times of need. Their stories are a testament to the strength of the human-animal bond and the incredible impact pets have on our well-being.
